Take Command Health, a Texas-based startup dedicated to helping individuals choose and save on their health insurance, is partnering with Zane Benefits to provide Texas businesses with fewer than 50 employees with health benefits products and services.

The companies’ announcement said their offerings can save small businesses 20 to 50 percent on employee benefits.
Instead of paying a percentage of each employee’s premiums on a group plan (defined benefit), employers would be able to use Zane’s compliance software to reimburse their employees a tax-free amount each month (defined contribution).
Employees then use Take Command Health’s online guide to quickly compare plans from Healthcare.gov side-by-side with private plans from Aetna, Blue Cross, United, Humana, and Cigna.
Take Command helps employees automatically apply for federal tax credits and enroll in a plan that includes their doctors and is optimized for their individual needs.
The partnership equips small businesses with compliance and plan optimization software that they may not have had the resources to do themselves in the past.
Last year in a small pilot, companies were surprised how much they could save, according to the announcement.
