Insurance protects one from loss. But how much of the loss is covered?
American health insurance policies vary from one to the other. They are tightly controlled by the federal government and must meet certain minimum requirements mandated by the Affordable Care Act.
Most policies have high out-of-pocket exposure that’s often beyond the means of the average American worker. As a result, covered loss is not enough for many, but few can afford anything better. Instead they take what they can get and hope for the best.
The truth of the matter is none of this needs to happen. We know why and we know how. And so do many of our friends in the business of solving health care.
