TRS ActiveCare Trustees Betting On “Legislative Relief”

TRS ActiveCare trustees are hopeful the Texas Republican controlled legislature will restore the TRS ActiveCare government health plan monopoly by prohibiting commercial competition.

TRS ActiveCare trustees are not happy. Approximately 145 school districts have taken advantage of a loophole enabling them, for the first time in 20 years,  to offer a competitive commercial health plan option alongside the TRS ActiveCare government health plan.

There is a possibility of legislative action this session to close the DOI loophole. We suspect we will know more by the week of May 10.
