How To Satisfy A Deductible Faster Than A Speeding Bullet

Methodist (Houston) quoted a Cigna insured patient today a price of $1,053.36 for CPT 76982. All of that goes to the patient’s Cigna deductible.

Patient is said to be relieved to learn this will entitle her to a last quarter deductible carry over credit into 2024. “What joy that is! A Silver Lining I never would have dreamed possible!” she tells us. “I can’t wait to use my insurance again.”

Meanwhile in Cashville, deductibles don’t exist and life is simpler.

“What’s the 36 cents for?”

This morning the patient sent us the following note:

“They told me it would be around $150 or less at Simon Med imaging. I’ll let you know when I get the bill what it ended up costing. That is crazy !”

We advised the patient to get an itemized bill so she can have her deductible credited as permitted under Texas House Bill 2002.

Special thanks to Chris Barakat at First Primary Care for his advice and guidance.
