EDINBURG – The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons granted three-year accreditation to the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance cancer program.

DHR said in a statement Thursday that it’s the first Rio Grande Valley cancer program to gain national accreditation.

The accreditation gives DHR framework to improve its patient care through cancer-related programs that focus on prevention, early diagnosis, staging, treatment and rehabilitation. The hospital said it takes a multidisciplinary approach to treatment, including surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and other specialists.
