- Prior authorizations
- Denials
- Appeals
- Eligibility checks
- Medical necessity documentation
That means workflows, rules, queues, reports, and teams of analysts to manage all of it. Then insurance companies employ their own teams to determine what they won’t pay for. We’ve created an entire economy around healthcare that doesn’t actually provide healthcare.
Think about how much money, talent, time, and mental energy we waste navigating this horribly inefficient system. Meanwhile, healthcare has enough REAL problems to solve. We need to improve quality. Reduce clinician burden. Improve access. Lower costs.
The last thing we need is payers creating artificial barriers between patients and the people trying to care for them.
