RE:
PATIENT ACCT.  #:
DATE OF SERVICE:  2022

To Whom It May Concern:

I did not receive an itemized medical bill.  It is a shame I had to ask for one.  After asking for one, I noted the following:

·      $1,400 for a liter of salt water!
·      $468 for a metabolic panel blood work that is often had for $50 and Medicare pays $12!
·      $482 for a one view chest x-ray that also should cost about $50!

It is further noted that Blue Cross Blue Shield has paid you $25,648 or $3,664 a day for my one week stay.

While I appreciate the care of the healthcare providers, I do not appreciate this predatory billing or my $3,000 supposed balance.  Charging about 4,000% of what Medicare pays for a routine blood test that checks my electrolytes, a metabolic panel, is outrageous and you have already been paid plenty.

A contract is only valid when there are two informed parties.  I was not informed of pricing. I am not the first patient who has been hospitalized.  I had no idea that the hospital would charge this much.  You have provided me with a surprise medical bill.  I am providing you a surprise medical payment of $200 in full as you have been already much more than fairly compensated. If you find that is not enough, I will send you two liters of salt water – a $2,800 value.

Sincerely,
