DPC Math

A direct primary care organization (DPC) charges $60 per member per month or $720 per member per year. According to government statistics PCP visits per 100 = 136 or 1.36 visits per person per year.

A 100 member case employer imbedding this benefit in their health plan would pay $72,000 per year or $529.41 per visit. Benefit does not include anything other than professional services.

A competing primary care organization charges $35 per member per month which includes both brick & mortar PCP, virtual PCP, virtual Urgent Care, virtual mental health and +350 free prescription drugs. Patients are assigned the same doctor.

If you had to choose, which scenario makes the most sense?
