Dr. Belk gives a talk to One Payer States, a group advocating for a single payer system…………

Hello again everyone!

Last week I gave a talk (via Zoom) to One Payer States, which is one of the many groups advocating for a single payer healthcare system. As I’ve often stated in the past, my primary goal is to precisely define the many problems in our healthcare system so that those trying to reform it know exactly what needs reforming.

For the purpose of this goal, I focused much of my talk last Tuesday specifically on Medicare (since that is the program my audience is advocating). For those of you who don’t have an hour to sit and watch my entire talk (most of you, I would guess) I broke it up into eight short videos, three of which I’ll send here. I’ll send along the other videos over the next few days.

This first video is less than four minutes long and titled “The Myth of the Pre-Existing Condition” and presents rather clear evidence that health insurance companies aren’t nearly as concerned about pre-existing conditions as they’ve let on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOTYR8nqH_c

The second video is about ten minutes long and explains quite clearly exactly how much Medicare recipients should expect to owe out-of-pocket for any medical care they receive if they have only Medicare and no other insurance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTpErd_G2zI

This third video is about six minute long shows how much a Medicare recipient with only Medicare would would owe out-of-pocket for a catastrophic medical illness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPArapvgM_A

As always, I think you’ll find much of what’s presented in these videos quite surprising. I present only the facts as well as exact figures to allow people to make their decisions using as much information as possible.

Also, for those of you still looking for something to read over the summer, my book is still available on Amazon.

The Kindle version is $9.99: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085PP3LM5
And the paperback $14.99: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1734709014

Thank you and stay safe
