Charles Kuralt hosts a segment for the CBS Evening News with Walter Kronkite from the Cuero Turkey Trot in Cuero, Texas on October 20-23, 1972. Original air date was November 13, 1972.
Featured is the downtown Cuero festival and its parade of turkeys, along with notable residents J.D. Bramlette and Keyes Carson. This happened to be the final Turkey Trot of the era.
A 100th Anniversary Turkey Trot was held in 2012 to commemorate the event. But contrary to what Mr. Kuralt states, turkeys do not drown in the rain.
