The City of San Antonio’s (“City”) Human Resources Department are soliciting for a firm with broad knowledge and experience as a third party administrator that offers sophisticated and innovative tools and resources for the administration of the City’s medical plans, pharmacy plan, FSA/HSA spending accounts, robust provider network for physicians and facilities within San Antonio and outside Texas, case management programs for high cost claimants and a disease management program that can be controlled by adherence, and proven options for reducing high costs associated with out-of-network services.

Editor’s Note:

The RFP states the city requires a “robust” PPO network of providers. They have already failed before they begun..……………..They should be their own TPA, negotiate direct contracts with willing providers at fair and reasonable reimbursement levels (they are a 26,000 pound gorilla) and pay providers, who don’t want to play ball, the same reimbursement levels some of the BUCA’s currently pay to out-of-network providers, i.e, 105% of Medicare…..
