Largest Employer South of San Antonio Hates Belly Buttons

“Please don’t refer to our employees as Belly Buttons. It’s a very serious concern actually!”

SUMMARY: Brownsville ISD goes to bid for PBM services. Proposals received were ranked after an evaluation process lead by the district’s insurance consultant.

The board of trustees approved the top ranked PBM recommended by the district’s consultant and benefits committee based on their exhaustive review process. But alas, and sadly after the fact, a communication problem became apparent over belly buttons and audit rights.

Confusion reigned as a question arose about calling employees Belly Buttons.

“Please don’t refer to our employees as Belly Buttons. It’s a very serious concern actually!” voiced an insurance committee member.

“Actually they should be called Units” corrected the district’s insurance consultant.

Watch the short video above for details.

If the RFP review process had been more thorough this misunderstanding could have been avoided. The Units Benefit Committee could have done a better job.
