And every week I walk away fascinated. Why they left. What they’re building. How they’re pulling it off.
Some of these practices have built strong panels with ZERO employer contracts. None. Just doctors and patients, directly. And some of them are in towns most people couldn’t find on a map. Doesn’t matter. Patients find them.
Here’s what I tell everyone: This is a fascinating time for DPC. Because patients are waking up. They’re realizing healthcare is broken. Especially the way employers buy healthcare for their people. The 7-minute visit is losing its shine. It won’t hold.
People will start treating health insurance like car insurance. You only use it when you get hit. For everything else? They want a doctor who knows them. Who cares. Who gives them time. That shift is coming. And it’s coming fast.
