Texas Educators Need Education

“I sat in a health insurance workshop this weekend at my conference in San Antonio.  There were some really frustrated folks in the room………………. asked the presenter (a TASB rep) if he had heard of many schools using ICHRAs.  He didn’t know what I was talking about.” – Texas School District Superintendent

Meanwhile Back At The Ranch………………..

The first, and so far the only, Texas School District to adopt ICHRA says it’s the best thing they could have done. The employees love it. The district is “out of the insurance business” and away from all the crap they have to put up with managing a health care plan. I expect more districts will follow as we see interest among those few we have been able to “educate.”

Legacy TPA’s with blinders firmly attached continue to administer status quo health plans, completely oblivious to changing market trends. It’s amazing they aren’t preparing to transition along with it for long term survival. Meanwhile new startups fueled by capital investors smart enough to recognize the opportunity are fulfilling market demand faster than a melting raspa in deep South Texas on an August afternoon.
