Willacy County commissioners have approved 90 Degree Benefits as their third party administrator effective October 1, 2026 as a result of a a competitive Request For Proposal process.
90 Degree Benefits will administer the county’s Reference Based Pricing plan including cash pay claim adjudication and care navigation services.
A subsidiary of Blue Cross of Alabama, 90 Degree Benefits is a national TPA with +23 offices located throughout the United States covering over 700,000 member lives.
The Willacy County Health Plan has been on a pure Reference Based Pricing plan since 2008 and does not access any managed care contracts. The county has direct provider contracts with professional providers, urgent care centers, hospitals and other providers in the area. Willacy County provider contracts are all Medicare based contracts with no outliers.
The county health plan is a community based health plan comprised of multiple political subdivisions under one master policy.
Plan services will be managed by LaShawnda Moore from the 90 Degree Benefits San Antonio office.
