Will Roger Garza “The Teflon Kid” survive yet another attempt by the Brownsville Independent School District board of trustees to terminate his insurance consulting agreement? How many bites of the apple will it take?
This will be Brownsville ISD’s third bite of the apple. The first bite failed and so did the second. The last time around Roger survived by a one vote margin.
Roger’s fate will once again be up for consideration by district trustees at their May 5, 2026 regular board meeting
Consider termination of the current contract with Valley Risk Consulting, Inc. (Roger Garza), in accordance with contract provisions, and direct the Superintendent to issue a new RFP for insurance and benefits consulting services and return recommendations to the Board. Will the one vote margin in favor of Roger the last go around flip to a one vote margin to terminate his contract? If so, who will the flipper be and why?
