The Unstoppable Growth Of Government Health Plans

Clinic overflow, thousands arrive for primary care appointment……………

Government mandated universal health care is a foregone conclusion. Purveyors of commercial health plans and medical caregivers are living in a bubble, milking the system for all it’s worth for as long as they can.

The masses are tired. More and more Americans, regardless of political persuasion, are looking to government for help because nothing else has worked. But is it really true? Is it “more and more Americans” or “less and less Americans?

Here are the numbers:

Medicaid/ Chips                                         83,000,000

Medicare                                                       64,000,000

Marketplace                                                21,000,000

Government Employees                           24,000,000

U.S. Population                                           336,000,000

% Government Plans                                57%

# Americans Paying Taxes                        154,000,000

% Americans Paying Texas                      24%

Over half of the American population is enrolled on a government health plan paid for by 24% of the population.

What will universal health care look like? Madam Palm down on 14th Street predicts:

  1. Care rationing, grandparents and the terminally ill will not be happy
  2. Commerical carriers will act as administrators, not insurers
  3. Independent Third Party Administrators will go to Costa Rica and live on the beach
  4. Private practice will be able to operate on a subscription model with govt. oversight
  5. Payroll tax will hover around 10-12% for all workers and 0% for non-workers
  6. Over half the population will get free care paid by the other half of the population
  7. Drug prices will be regulated – Patents denied or limited by statute
  8. Balance billing will be illegal
  9. All human beings within the geographic boundaries of the U.S. will be covered
  10. All non-human beings will not be covered
  11. Abortions will be covered without limitation, survivors covered at birth
  12. Health insurance brokers will disappear or morph into voluntary benefits brokers
  13. Reference Based Pricing will be universal
  14. Shared savings third party vendor contracts will be illegal
  15. Health insurance consultants will move to Costa Rica and live on the beach
  16. PPO networks will be obsolete
  17. Medicare network will be the exclusive, and only, PPO network
  18. Hospital administrators will take a pay cut, some will go to Costa Rica and live…..
  19. Medical school enrollment will decline – Trade school enrollment will increase
  20. ICHRA’s will be the foundation of the American universal health care model

When will all this happen? It could be in one or two election cycles from now. Madam Palm refuses to say. “It’s not in the cards. Come back tomorrow and bring a sacrificial chicken” she said. “I’ll have the candles lit.”
