More Americans have come to believe “The Final Solution” to unaffordable, rising health care costs is a single payer government health care system financed by Washington printing presses.
With increasing speed buffeted by strong tailwinds, the process towards that end continues. For example, Medicaid has grown beyond its original intent. It is no longer primarily a safety net for the poor. “Enrollment as a percentage of the U.S. population has more than tripled, rising from ~8% in the late 1980s to nearly 27% by 2022.”
Add to that Medicare, Chips, and government funded marketplace plans. Politicians without term limits will never vote these away, only grow them to maintain their loyal base of supporters.
That’s the reality of American politics.
“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax………..[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” – Mitt Romney
