
Car insurance rates rose 15% in 2024, with Americans now paying an average of $2,313 annually for full coverage, while five states see rates surpassing $3,000, according to a data analysis.
According to the report by Insurify, insurance rates will go up another 5% in 2025, after jumping 42% since 2022.
The most expensive states for car insurance are Maryland at $4,060 (up 53% since 2023), New York at $3,804 (up 14%), South Carolina at $3,393 (up 29%), Florida at $3,166 (up 9%), and Delaware at $3,078 (up 8%).
The cheapest car insurance can be found in New Hampshire, Maine, North Dakota, North Carolina, and Ohio, where coverage ranges from $997 to $1,455. See where your state ranks here.
