The Eagle Pass Independent School District is paying more for health insurance than most school districts in Texas. In addition to regular pay all full-time employees are gifted an additional $11,328 per year just to pay for health insurance.
That’s insane.
The Eagle Pass Independent School District should beg TRS ActiveCare for membership. They would save millions of dollars plus give all employees a meaningful raise at the same time.
Or, they could implement ICHRA, join a +3,000,000 member risk pool, garner federal tax monies and fund a sidecar HRA to cover deductibles, coinsurance and copays and still save millions plus give employees a meaningful and permanent raise.
We have written about the Eagle Pass health plan before. Nothing magical has happened since.
