Dow Jones is nearing 40,000… will family health insurance premiums match it?
The 4th of July weekend forced me to socialize…. and of course that means I talked about Health Insurance.
I talked to one of the teachers in the Village Of Antioch and he shared with me that his Healthcare was going up quite a bit once again.
I asked him how much and he talked about families are now having to pay over 1k a month for coverage.
I told him the district was probably paying another 20k a year towards the coverage as well.
That forced him to look into it and he showed me this chart. I see this stuff everyday but he was blown away.
$9,034 -> $11,929 … that 11% per year
The good old rule of 72 teaches me that means these cost will double every 6.45 years.
And thats when I told him….. we are going to see 50k family premiums in 3 more years my friend.
I guess it will be interesting to see if we see Dow 50k before my hometown hits 50k for family premiums.
