The Edcouch Elsa Independent School District believes every penny counts. The district’s insurance consultant recommended a move from Blue Cross Blue Shield to United Healthcare for a premium savings of 1.25%.
Health plans don’t usually move for such a small premium variance unless there are other mitigating factors such as poor service. Moving from one carrier to another involves a degree of disruption.
Is 1.25% worth it?
Valley Risk Consulting, the district’s insurance consultant, has a history of recommending United Healthcare more often than not. Brownsville ISD, Edinburg ISD and Harlingen ISD are examples referenced during the consultant’s presentation to the Edcouch Elsa Board of Trustees.
