San Benito Independent School District in deep South Texas is seeking competitive health insurance proposals a full six months out from the proposed effective date of October 1.

Very few carriers will bid on a group this far out from the effective date and those that do will not offer firm quotes. One wonders why the insurance consultant for the San Benito ISD recommended such a premature RFP process.
San Benito ISD currently has Blue Cross & Blue Shield as the administrator of their self-funded health plan.
