Another Truth Bomb By Dutch Rojas
The United States government
plays a rigged game of Monopoly,
but instead of hotels,
it’s hospitals.
Remember when competition
spiced up capitalism?
It kept markets zesty
and prices palatable.
Well,
someone yanked that
off the healthcare menu.
Imagine banning 7% of hotels from the board game. Poof.
Gone.
That’s what happened with physician-owned hospitals.
We could have built 500+ more in the last 15 years. But we didn’t.
Because of politics.
Now,
premiums cha-cha up the price ladder,
twirling past 2.5x what they were in 2008.
We pay for a five-star experience
but get a motel with a view of the parking lot.
Here’s the plot twist:
MBAs and private equity firms run the game.
They need competition.
they aim for unearned
and extracted revenues.
not your health.
So, isn’t it time we flipped the board?
Not to create chaos,
but to redesign the game.
One where the players –
that’s us, the patients
– actually have a chance to win.
Because right now,
we all just pass GO,
collect $200,
and hand it straight to the banker.
