“We have received information from TSHBP that the yearly claims for the program were over budget and therefore a surcharge of $150 per employee for 10 months will be assessed. Due to this, we are pursuing other health care options through a fully funded insurance program for our employees. Currently, the best option is the Curative plan.”
In their May 2024 board meeting trustees of the Miami Independent School District located in the Texas panhandle consider terminating membership in the TSHBP program. After considering alternative health insurance options trustees focus on an offer made by Curative Health.

Districts are scrambling for alternatives, a proverbial “Run On The Bank.” Member districts exiting TSHBP will still owe their share of the cash call. It is doubtful the TSHBP, as structured today, will survive for another year.
