Ford Hits Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan With Antitrust Suit

Ford Motor Co. sued Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Mutual Insurance Co. alleging that the insurer violated antitrust law by conspiring to inflate the cost of health services.
In a complaint filed Wednesday, Ford alleged that BCBS MI and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association violated Section 1 of the Sherman Act by dividing territory and fixing prices, which resulted in overcharging Ford for commercial health insurance products it purchased from certain BCBS entities.
