Murray was a most amazing character and ended up selling me life insurance….. at 27 years old!

This is a clip from my 1st documentary feature film–King Murray. It won the Cannes Film Festival Critics Prize in 1970. It was considered experimental because I told the press that I had “staged” some of the scenes and that was true.

I don’t think much of this was scripted personally. Which I think adds to its mystique and allure. I think this guy, (Shmuel Moshe Ginsberg), Murray King, was a driven individual who actually did play as hard as advertised. But just as important to the story is that he worked his ass off and did make the money he boasts (said he was worth 500K) and back in ’69 that was enough to make him wealthy for sure. Some of the things he does are over-the-top and cringe-worthy, but again, you really can’t stop watching it.
