“Yep, we know it’s your money. But it’s our money now! We use it to pay your claims plus a few other things. And nope, you can’t see the prices we’ve negotiated with medical care givers because…………….. it’s none of your business” said the TPA.
“That’s outrageous!” said the CFO
“Relax! We always disclose prices after we pay each claim don’t we? And we always memorialize it in what is called an Explanation of Benefits or EOB” said the TPA.
“That’s crazy! You are telling me we can’t see the prices until after we pay the bill? What’s the difference? said the CFO.
“Exactly! The end result is there is no difference. Now you understand? said the TPA”
“Not really. But I guess if you show prices at some point we should be good to go” said the CFO.
“Exactly!” said the TPA.
“But what about all those ‘other things’ you pay for using our money? What are they for and how much does each cost us? said the CFO
“That’s a good question except, remember, it’s not your money anymore. Since it’s ours and not yours it’s none of your business!” said the TPA
“I’m confused” said the CFO
“You’re supposed to be. The entire system is designed that way. You are totally normal” said the TPA
AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER…………………
