Happy Nurse Practitioner Week 2015

American Association of Nurse PractitionersNational Nurse Practitioner Week is held annually to celebrate these exceptional health care providers and to remind lawmakers of the importance of removing outdated barriers to practice so that NPs will be allowed to practice to the full extent of their experience and education.

National Nurse Practitioner Week 2015 will be held November 8 – 14.

The special week offers numerous opportunities to bring recognition to the NP role and increase awareness of the exceptional care that NPs provide. The NP Week Resource Guide is now available and contains information such as a sample news release, talking points, an NP fact sheet, community activities, a media interview guide, and guidelines for writing a letter to the editor.

View the most recent proclamation map to see if your governor is one of the 27 (plus DC) who have already signed 2015 National Nurse Practitioner Week proclamations. If your state contains a picture or proclamation, please thank your governor. Otherwise, don’t let your state be blue! Ask your governor to sign a proclamation in support of NPs and the exceptional care they provide. A sample may be found in the resource guide. Signed proclamations may be emailed tosocialmedia@aanp.org. Thanks to all who are participating! We are well on our way to breaking last year’s record of 34 proclamations. Be sure to join the conversation on social networks by adding #NPWeek to your posts, and search for that hashtag to see how your colleagues are marking this celebratory week.
