Few Texans know that the government has established a guaranteed risk pool currently covering more than 3,000,000 Texans. A mounting number of plan sponsors are taking advantage of that.
“The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) established a permanent risk pool to provide payments to health insurance issuers that attract higher-risk enrollees. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is responsible for operating the program on behalf of any state that does not elect to do so.”
