Monday, August 11, 2025
Marjorie is a diabetes expert. A Brownsville, Texas native she works for M.D. Anderson – Houston and is scheduled to speak at the ACDES25 conference in Phoenix, Arizona this weekend. (She is our favorite daughter).
Subject: To reduce the burden of disease during cancer treatment – Our inpatient diabetes management team explored methods to enhance care.
Tremendous effort and support by our diabetes team allowed the development and implementation of a hospital policy for the use of diabetes technology by patients during their hospitalization.
The use of real-time data gave patients and providers the ability to monitor glucose as they received their cancer treatment, leading to improved glycemic outcomes.
This session examines the steps taken by our team to introduce how diabetes technology may be used during hospitalization for hospital-wide implementation.
In addition, the presenters describe methods to achieve buy-in and basic project management principles.
