According to a local auto body shop the average cost of vehicular deer damage in Dewitt County is $7,000. State Farm reports average costs range from $2,500-$5,000.
“You’re lucky, your damage is less than $2,000” said Bobby the body shop owner. “Isn’t this the same truck that ran into a cow several months ago?”
“Nope, the cow ran into me” I responded. “And, if you remember, two years ago another deer, a red-headed cousin to this one, ran into this same truck on FM 682.”
“Yep, I remember. Then there was the time last year when you had a close encounter with a concrete pole in the Victoria shopping mall.” grinned Bobby. “Thank you for your business!”
“A cow, two deer and a concrete shopping mall pole and the damn truck at 482,000 miles is still running? When are you getting a new truck? asked a neighbor.
“When we run out of deer and the cows head north” I said.
