California lawmakers vote to offer health insurance to immigrants in US illegally

SACRAMENTO (AP) — The California Assembly voted Tuesday to extend the state’s Medicaid program to eligible adults who are in the country illegally.
Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom wants to spend about $98 million a year to cover low-income immigrants between the ages of 19 and 25 who are living in the country illegally.
The state Senate’s budget proposal would also add coverage for people 65 and older living in the country illegally.
The state Assembly’s bill would cover all immigrants in California living in the country illegally over the age of 19.
But Newsom has raised concern about the assembly’s bill because it is estimated to cost more than $3 billion a year.
The bill passed 44-11.
The proposed law, Assembly Bill 4, goes next to the state Senate.

California has a $21 Billion surplus this fiscal year b/c of higher tax receipts from wealthy people who have a limitation on their itemized deductions of $10,000. That’s the federal limit. So now, b/c they are the state with the highest income tax in the land, they are reaping the benefits of the limitation on these itemized deductions.
The politicians are climbing all over themselves to spend that money. So, why not buy votes from the illegals (who either currently do vote, or will very soon) by giving them more free shit?
This is a classic example of why the democracy is in decline. A large voting block has realized they can vote themselves a bunch of freebies from the government. And it continues until they run out of other people’s money. Wait 3 years until they have a deficit when the economy slows, many wealthy people (whom they are depending on for this “extra” income) will flee the state (even the liberal/communists will flee), and then let’s see how they deal with trying to claw back all those freebies. They’ll have a revolt if they try!! But California is doomed to be a subset of Venezuela. You just know they’ll beg the feds for a bail out (i.e. they want the rest of us to pay for their complete irresponsibility). All in the name of retaining political power.
Our country is screwed. The good news is that I won’t be around to see the rapid decline that will take place over the next generation.
