At their March 4 Board Meeting trustees at the Brownsville Independent School District (BISD) considered an action item to terminate their group medical third party administrator (TPA).
“Discussion and Possible Action Regarding the Performance, Contract Compliance, and Potential Termination of the District’s Third-Party Administrator (TPA), Including Review of Contractual Obligations, Financial Impact, and Legal Considerations.”
The district’s TPA is United HealthCare.
BISD, the largest employer south of San Antonio has been considering their insurance options for 2026. This latest move towards early termination of their TPA Agreement mid-contract term begs the question as to why.

We have no idea what the BISD Board of Trustees did on this agenda item. Our best guess is nothing happened and UHC’s early termination “death sentence” has been postponed for now.
