Growing business opportunities in Texas warrants a permanent footprint in the state. Houston targeted for AMPS newest office.

Advanced Medical Pricing Solutions, a cost containment company, has targeted Houston for its next office.
For many companies, insurance can be second or third on the list for highest annual expenses, Mike Dendy, CEO and co-founder of Advanced Medical Pricing Solutions, told the Houston Business Journal. AMPS tries to lower that cost through an untraditional business model in health care.
AMPS has offices in Atlanta and Phoenix and conducts operations around Texas, Dendy said. However, its growing business in Texas warrants a permanent footprint in the area.
Initially, the presence here will be relatively small. AMPS has named Brad Greer andVictor Manes vice presidents of business development for the south Texas region, according to a statement.
Over the next year, the company could begin looking for office space and hiring a team to grow its presence in south Texas, Dendy added.
AMPS uses a reference price business model, using the amount a hospital says a particular procedure costs and sets its reimbursement rate off that. Traditional preferred-provider organizations, Dendy said, look more to get hospitals or doctors in network, regardless of the cost to the employer.
“We bring transparency to bear for employers to show that there are ways to cut costs that these other payers won’t tell you about,” Dendy told the HBJ.
