I Must Be a Mean Person’: Tucker Battles Cruz Challenger Over Free Health Care for Illegals

Tucker Carlson debated a Texas congressman who is challenging Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) this November over his plan to provide taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants.

Carlson said Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke of El Paso sponsored legislation that would provide health care for immigrants.

He asked O’Rourke if he thought about the established American citizens who would be footing the bill for people who had crossed into the country illegally.

O’Rourke said that he wants to “make sure that DREAMers can… thrive in their communities.” (NON-RESPONSIVE ANSWER – SUCCESSFULLY DODGED QUESTION)

Carlson responded that most Americans want the same for themselves, but have otherwise followed the law.

O’Rourke said that his home city of El Paso, in the southwest corner of the state across from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, is one of the safest in America.  (NON-RESPONSIVE ANSWER – SUCCESSFULLY DODGED QUESTION)

He said that El Paso would not thrive as it does without the hard work of immigrants.  (NON-RESPONSIVE ANSWER – SUCCESSFULLY DODGED QUESTION)

Carlson reiterated his question, again asking why Americans should pay for illegal immigrants’ health care.

O’Rourke responded, asking whether Carlson would rather “watch people die.”   (NON-RESPONSIVE ANSWER – SUCCESSFULLY DODGED QUESTION BY CASTING OPPONENT AS  A MEAN AND UNCARING BASTARD)

“I must be a mean person,” Carlson said.
