Survival requires killing predatory healthcare and mandating legitimate pricing

STEVEN I. WEISSMAN, A Former Hospital President

COOPER CITY, FL

JAN 18, 2017 — We fight for the life of our Nation. The desire for legitimate healthcare pricing is the one – perhaps only – unifying American issue.

Our dead-end healthcare system was not created by accident. The health industry spends more on lobbying than the defense, aerospace, and the oil and gas industries combined. Human aspiration to live a long and healthy life has fallen victim to crony capitalism and political bickering.

Skyrocketing insurance premiums are a symptom, not the disease. Hospitals, physicians, labs and drugs generate 100% of all medical bills. Political protection shields purveyors of medical goods and services from legitimate pricing and competition. Insurance premiums are determined by simple arithmetic – a direct function of the amounts paid for health services.

All the current reform proposals are a delaying tactic to continue to protect healthcare providers from free market, legitimate pricing. It is not a coincidence that the only product or service permitted to be sold in the U.S.A. without legitimate pricing, with no consumer protection, is the one that has imposed tremendous financial hardship, including causing the majority of personal bankruptcies.

With the new administration incoming this week and our Petition delivered to President-elect Trump, this is do or die time for real health reform.
