Rarely have we seen documented evidence like this of a practice long held secret within our industry.
An employer in deep South Texas changed to a new TPA several months ago. The TPA insisted the group award PBM services to their preferred PBM however the group declined to do so, electing to continue with their current PBM.
The group is on a pass-through contract earning rebates.
Now we learn the truth as to why the TPA was so adamant about packaging their PBM of choice in a bundled offering.
Without the knowledge of the plan sponsor the group’s PBM was contacted by the TPA in an attempt to steal the group’s rebate money.
